Start Your Own Blog

Faster Than the WordPress 5 Minute Install!
. . . And easier too!

Everyone has a blog these days and more are being created every day. The problem for most people that want to start their own blog is getting it up and running on the internet. Some people think starting
their own blog is too technical.

Starting your own blog should be easy, or so you think. Well it is easy to start your own blog, a lot easier than you think.

. . . I’ll even show you how.

I’m going to assume that you already have an idea or niche’ for your own blog.

If you need to get a domain name (www.yourblog.com), then I suggest that you CLICK HERE TO SIGN UP FOR BLUEHOST.COM NOW. Bluehost in my opinion has the best hosting package there is.

Now that you have a domain name and web host you’re ready to go just follow these simple instructions.

Login to your Bluehost cPanel

Use the login username and password you created when you started your Bluehost account. You will then see a screen that looks like this.

Scroll down to the bottom of the page until you see this box and click on the “Simple Scripts” icon. Its under Software/Services.

Simple Scripts

This will bring you to the scripts list page. There are several options here, three are for blogs. We are going to install a WordPress blog so click on the WordPress icon under the heading “Blogs

Simple Scripts-script list

Choose theWordpress icon and click.

The next page will give you a short description of what the WordPress blogging software is and why it is so great. Also shown here is the latest software version and some screen shots of what WordPress looks like from the back and the front. That is the control panel where you write your posts and what your blog will look like at the start before you make any changes.
(You will probably want to make some changes right from the start and I can show you some of that in another post.)

There are also some links here to Worpress.org that can help you to learn more about what WordPress can do for you and your blogging experience.

Click on the “Install Now” button.

Additional Options

Please give your site a name.

This is pretty self explanatory. If you have been thinking of starting a blog for any time at all I am sure that you know what you’re going to name it.One thing Ishould say though, Keywords, related to your blog subject, is good for SEO. Click Here to read more about Search Engine Optimization.

Advanced Configuration

Please put a check in both of these boxes as they are very important to the proper installation of your Worpress Blog.

Legal Information

You must put a check in both of these boxes.

For a short time you will see this box indication the progress of the WordPress installation.

Congradulations!

You will be redirected to this page indicating the successful WordPress installation. Also you will see a link to the administration area of your site, your default username and a generated password. After you log in you can go to the settings area and change the password or add another username and password. (Keep your user name and password safe.)

To install a different theme to your new WordPress blog installation.

Install Blog Themes Using WordPress Theme Installer

One of the many great features that come with your WordPress blog is the ability to completely change the look and functionality of your blog by changing the theme or by using plugins and widgets.

Changing your theme from the default theme is the first change you should make to your WordPress blog. This may sound like it could be too complicated but it really isn’t.

Here I will show you how to change your wordpress theme using the theme installer that is in your wordpress admin area.

Log in to your wordpress admin area. On the left hand column you will see a header that says “Appearance” inside the box are Themes, Widgets, Menus, and Editor.

Choose “Themes”

The next page will have two tabs across the top; manage themes and install themes. Choose the “Install themes tab

Click on the Install TabThe next page will look like the one below.

On this page you will see that there are several options to use finding a theme that is just right for your wordpress blog.

Upload; If you were a blog designer and you wanted to share a theme you had created you could upload it from your computer to WordPress’ data base of themes.

The next links are where you will find a host of excellent themes from the wordpress themes library.

Featured; Here you will find wordpress.org featured themes. Fresh new themes of the type many bloggers are uploading or raving about.

Newest; Here are the newest themes featured at wordpress.org

Recently Updated; WordPress.org features some of their most recently updated themes.

You also have the option of searching for a theme by keyword. Just put a keyword in the search box and find themes by keyword, author or tag. Click on the search button and see what themes are available.

Also you can search the theme library by using the filter system that is included. Choose from several filter categories including colors columns and width, or features and subject.  I recommend that you use less filters to give yourself the chance to see the many different themes that are available in the wordpress theme library. Spend some time look around. There are literally hundreds if not thousands of themes available. After you have made a choice on the theme you want to use for your wordpress blog, it is a simple as a few clicks and you can have your new theme installed in seconds by the wordpress auto installer.

For each theme that is listed you have the option to preview or install just by clicking on the included link.

Just click on install once more and, there you will see a preview of the theme, the contributers details and the version of the wordpress theme. All you do now is click on “install one more and the theme installer will do all of the technical stuff.

You will now see a page similar to this one.  You can click on preview to see what it will look like. Now just click on “activate”.

Your new theme is installed and activated.

This is the easiest way to install a new theme to your blog. there are many themes to choose from that the wordpress theme installer will automatically install and activate for you.
